Our program supports vulnerable children in priority communities in Mukono district and other surrounding areas. We work with institutions like schools, remand homes; village health teams as well with guardians and caregivers. We go beyond the seemingly obvious issues of life and tackle and handle the very artifacts of real life knowing that the best investment that lasts is one made in people. We boast in this: TRANSFORMING ONE LIFE AT A TIME

Why mentoring and why mentors?
Mentoring at its core, guarantee young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day life challenges and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic, and professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth, development, social and economic opportunities. Yet one in three young persons will grow up without this priceless asset.
What makes a good mentor?
Before becoming a mentor, here are a few things to understand about the role of mentoring. Mentor wear many hats acting as delegates, role models, cheerleaders, advocates, friends, and confidants. Mentors assume these different roles during the course of a relationship with a young person and share some basic qualities. Mentoring relationships are a shared opportunity for learning and growth. At ROCK YOUTH MISSION we are looking for empathetic, flexible, active listeners and individuals who will respect the young people.
